Repair My Book

Preserving knowledge, memories, and history

Repair my book is a blog about repairing and restoring books using old world craftsmanship, one book at a time.   it tells a short story about each book, it's history if know, why it needs restoration, and what was done to preserve the book.

Are you considering having a book restored. This is not an everyday purchase so I have prepared this site, with the hope, you will find most of your answers here.

I have been restoring books and family heirlooms for nearly 25 years.

If you wish a quote for a restoration please submit photographs of your book to repairmybook@gmail.com. The photos should include one photo of the front cover and one photo of the back cover, one photo of the spine, even if parts or all of the spine are missing., one photo of the title page which has the publishers name listed, a photo of the inside front hinge areas, and any other damage you see.

I respond by email with a detailed estimate of your book restoration requirements.

Other Information You Need To Know.

I only use premium materials for restorations and I follow all standard conservation guidelines for archival and reversible conservation work.

I am not fast or cheap, I prefer to do each job correctly and to insure the work lasts.

I have a minimum shop charge of $350.00. Most restorations will meet this minimum.

I no longer rebind small personal bibles. Google “Small Bible Rebinding” and you will get a list of companies that will rebind these small bibles at a reasonable cost. You will probably have to ship the book to them, but that is normal in this business.

There is a lot of information on this website that should give you an idea of what is involved in a restoration. Hope it helps.

Thank you,

David
